  Windrose
  Marie-Jo performing in Switzerland

"Marie-Jo Rudolf has played alto sax in and around Toronto since the late 70's, for the past 18 months holding down a regular Tuesday trio gig at Safari Bar and Grill (1749 Avenue Rd. north of Lawrence) with pianist (and husband) Brian Rudolf and bass Peter Telford and appearing at area clubs and festivals.

On her debut CD recorded at Safari, the intuitive threesome augmented by drummer Howie Silverman she plays from the heart with an attractive, piercing and perky tone in the bop tradition that serves tunes like "Just Friends" well.

Rudolf is capable of surprise too, ready to explode a la Coltrane on chorus swaps and delivering lines that work particularly well on ballads such as "You Don't Know What Love Is" and "Stardust". The trio knows its stuff, how to deal with "Time After Tim" and how to let rip on a fiery "Groovin' High"."

"On behalf of Squash Ontario, I want to thank you so very much for the entertainment you provided on Saturday evening...you gave the occasion the class we were looking for..."

Sherry Funston
Executive Director
Squash Ontario

"You, and the "boys" contributed enormously to the overall success of the day.

The feedback from the client was that the entertainment was just what the event called for to give it that "hit of class". The ensemble was a joy to work with and you were most understanding as the schedule was not always adhered to."

"On behalf of my family and myself, I just wanted to thank you again for helping make my daughter's engagement party a wonderful affair. Many of the quests expressed their delight in you music and were very interested to learn that they could hear more of your music at "Safari"."
